[Reno Day 52] Glass, glass and more glass!

We have to be truthful to ourselves: no matter how they stressed that our living spaces have not shrunk, the way the flats are configured sure didn't do justice to that statement. So we do have larger toilets (not complaining) and a service yard, which are non-existent in older flats. Unfortunately, squeezing out this extra space has robbed the living/dining area of sizable space.

So most people we spoke to egged us to place mirrors in the living area to create an optical illusion of a larger space in the living/dining area. Do you guys have any idea how freaky a house full of mirrors is?! The Husband and I have a adverse fear of large mirrors, which explains why our mirrors are never larger than 1mx1m in dimension and we NEVER have full-length mirrors. FREAKY BIG TIME.

So instead of mirrors, guess what?

We decided to throw in a hell lot of glass. To create a larger living room that doesn't look too stifling when you watch TV in the living room, we took down half of the wall to the Husband's Playroom and replaced the hollow door with a self-closing glass door (there, guys. I dare you to ask for one of these rooms from your wives. I'll love to see the drama unfold).

Aesthetically, it does plenty to let in more light from the other room. On another hand, it allows us to display the feature brick wall and whatever's in the Playroom.

Remember the kitchen wall we took down? It's replaced with a fixed glass panel and a glass door with a white aluminum frame  to achieve the feel of a larger, airier kitchen. Plus, I can shut the door when cooking so that the whole house won't smell like my dinner!

We also took the opportunity to invite the guys from Eubiq over to take measurements for our tracks. They were so darn fast and efficient, and professional in advising us about the positioning and suitable installation lengths of the tracks at various locations in the house.

See you next week, dear Home!
