[30 August 2015] The renovation progress started to slow down at this juncture while a first coat of paint for the house came up just a few days ago. Prior to dropping by to see the reno, we headed to IKEA to create a shopping list for the the home.
To many, IKEA isn't the first place to go to for quality, long-lasting furniture. Not for us - the key is to shop smart, and to always do your homework and measurements before heading out.
Shortlisted:
1) Tiered laundry rack
Wanted to grab this the moment I saw it in the IKEA catalogue. Wonderful way of organizing laundry... If it wasn't so uneconomical to do so (rack with 3 tiers of mesh baskets cost $61. One huge laundry basket from the neighborhood store is $8).
2) Bar stools
This will be a matter of time, just which one :)
After window shopping, it was back to checking on the progress of our place, especially the paintwork. Glad to know that the shower screens were up! For the master bedroom bathroom, we chose to enclose the shower area with a full shower screen to segregate the wet area from the dry area, so that I can do my make-up without needing to wade around.
And since we don't foresee ourselves bathing at the common toilet, there's no point in a fully covered shower area. The screen we decided on is simply to block the water from the tap from our cabinets (on the other side).
All was good, until I realized that THE LIVING ROOM WALL WAS FAR TOO WHITE. I mean, WTF?!
For the record, we were supposed to have Austin bricks against an off-white wall, and nothing like this. Where did our Austin wall go?
